Exceeding Expectations book cover

As a potential reader picking up the book and reading the title I am right to assume by the concept shown that mama Marcia in her earlier life, in her youth had dreams and expectations. Today she stands having exceeded those expectations to become the woman, mother, nana (grandmother) and motivator she is. The old pic of a youthful mama Marcia laughing in the background is only but a shadow of the woman that you are about to read about, in her own words. As a first time author mama Marcia stands out in a bold elegant way on this cover. She clearly is the subject and her ethnic garment makes for a strong authentic woman. Her head gear clearly shows a woman that has come to her own to own her golden crown and to tell her story. The photographer together with Marcia’s choice of dress clearly worked. A dark colour as a backdrop may seem undesirable and sometimes synonymous with darkness, all things bad, lack of life, however in this book cover case it has a positive deeper meaning…. Despite a backdrop of non conducive conditions for success Mama Marcia has succeeded were many thought she would fail. She has overcome many dark seasons to celebrate who she has become. In the midst of sometimes a dark negative world and circumstances she has fallen only to rise and become stronger beyond her youthful dreams and imagination. A little splash of colour here and there? What is that all about, you may ask? Mama Marcia though a serious driven woman, ‘a lioness’ we have secretly nicknamed her, she is a whole lot of fun. Never a dull moment with her.
